The Story of Four Islands

"The story was utterly gripping and the book was beautifully written and well-researched. Neither of us could put the book down!"

"Historically well researched and deals with a little known pocket of resistance during 2nd World War. A fascinating insight into the PLUTO project entwined with a human story."

"A brilliant book I just could not put down! I bought it because of my interest in the Pluto Project and the Isle of Wight, but not only does this book give a vivid picture of life in the island in WWII, it is also a thrilling and beautiful story which is full of intrigue to the end. I thoroughly recommend this book to anyone, you won't be disappointed."

"Interesting thriller interwoven with a nice romance. The has some good twists and with, for my family at least, some familiar and well liked locations. Crawford keeps a good pace going with descriptive prose but not too waffling. The PLUTO element gives a factual grounding to the story and elicits the nostalgia of those times. The story begins in the forties and ends in the late seventies / early eighties but don't think this is a tale just for the oldies, this is a good story well told."

The Art of Deception

"This was a great read. The plot is cleverly woven, switching between a group of main characters in a style which draws you in and maintains a quick pace through to the surprising ending. It has adventure, mystery and romance. Definitely recommended.."

"An intriguing tale that sheds some light on Hiltler's desire to own the world's artistic riches for himself. The jewel in question is researched, traced and used as a backdrop to events that took place in World War 2. The horror of war and the consequences on human lives is dealt with sensitively. A poignant read at this moment in time."

"A very readable, difficult to put down, book which not only educates but includes romance, skulduggery and....deception. Really enjoyed it - would make good film. Will certainly recommend it to others."

"I found this book to be brilliantly written with an extremely engaging plot, it takes the reader back to WWII when Hitler not only seeks political domination, but desires a particular lost diamond. The historical content is fascinating and the characters are developed so well within the book. I enjoyed every page and would highly recommend you put the kettle on and settle down a good read."

The Millstone

"A well written book that carries you along on a fascinating journey. A page turner."

"This latest novel by Crawford Ivin is another emotional delight. The past is brought to life as you journey with some great characters from England to the Caribbean and back again. If you enjoy historical fiction, and a really good yarn then you will love this book."

"The Millstone is a truly fantastic read - suspense, action and history so vivid you feel like you are there. Set in England and the Caribbean this story is a real eye opener into the horrors of the slave trade and an insight into the lives of both the rich and poor. Murder and betrayal are set alongside a ground-breaking love story. If you like Poldark, Hornblower or any good quality period drama then you will love The Millstone. 5 stars!"

"I couldn’t put down, from start to finish I was transported back into history with a rollercoaster ride ahead of me. I consumed this book in a matter of days , but as much as I wanted to get to the end... I didn’t want it to finish."

The Princess Who Came To Tea

"This is the third book I've read from this writer and he just gets better and better. A thrilling story of the Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret during WW2 and an attempted kidnapping."

"The scene is set over the first few chapters and then I just couldn't put it down. It's an original story that has touches of romance, but is more about the experience of wartime from several different perspectives; a young man, a nurse, special agents on both sides and a concentration camp survivor.  You will especially enjoy this book if you are interested in the history of World War II, the Royal Family, the Isle of Wight or the railway system. There is even a thought-provoking bonus at the end of the book. Highly recommended!"

"A very credible plot line which is well told. Indeed, I began to wonder if it was, in fact, based on truth, so well was it presented. It would form a sound basis for an exciting tv or film production... an excellent read and I look forward to reading more of this author’s work."

"Crawford Ivin's third novel is a joy to read. His elegant word selection and eye for historical detail, transports you completely into the world of life on the Isle of Wight in a by gone era. It is a gentle story which manages to combine genuine warm characters with a thrilling war narrative. You'll love it."
